Well, today is the last day. Driving back tomorrow, taking 2 hour shifts with my Dad and trying to do the whole journey in one day. Autoroute reckons it’s a 13 hour trip, but that’s a bit optimistic in my opinion.
On Wednesday, we went to the new A75/E11 autoroute (which is French for motorway) to have a look at the new Viaduc Millau (Millau Viaduct). It is quite a sight (British designed too), although whether or not it was worth a 3 hour round trip is debatable.
I’m fully aware how crap this particular picture is, but I do quite like it.
It’s the tallest bridge in the world and you can get the scale of it from this photo.
The surrounding area is very nice too.
The kitchen is yet another step closer to being finished, as we now have a dishwasher, and the other work surface is fitted too. There’s a door front missing as B&Q messed up an order and sent us the wrong style.
The washing machine will eventually be in the downstairs toilet and there will be a sink and another cabinet there. In the gap, that’s where the cooker (which is arriving tomorrow) will go. In the corner by the door, there’s going to be a plumbed in American-style fridge-freezer (one where you can pour chilled water and it makes ice cubes and stuff too).
Big job today (well so far, it’s only 3pm) was the arrival of self-levelling cement to fill in the quiet room and the hole we made in the play room.
Last night:
Colin, my Auntie Jayne’s former headteacher came over yesterday for lunch. And ended up digging up the floor in this room as it wasn’t level. We got some cement for it today:
Christian hard at work.
And the quiet room:
And for good measure, the cement mixer:
